Saint Copri was born on a dung heap near the walls of the monastery of St. Theodosius the Great, when his mother fled from the persecution of the Agarians. The monks found the infant and named him Copri. He was nourished by goat's milk, which was brought by a special goat. When Copri reached adulthood, he became a dwelling of the Holy Spirit, and wild beasts obeyed him. Once, he drove a bear out of the monastery garden and made it work until the donkey recovered. The saint served in the monastery kitchen and once, not finding a spoon, he removed the foam from the boiling dish with his bare hand, remaining unharmed. He lived for 90 years, was ordained a priest, and often prayed to God. St. Theodosius, appearing to him for the last time, said that the time had come to leave this earthly life. Soon, Saint Copri passed away to the Lord after a brief illness.
