Our venerable father Savva was born and took monastic vows in foreign lands, came to the city of Pskov, to the monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos, called Snyatogorsky. Here he valiantly labored and, not wishing for glory from men, moved to the monastery of the great Ephrosinus on the river Tolva, where he fulfilled the duties of a monastery servant. Having asked for the blessing from Ephrosinus, he went into the wilderness by Lake Krypets, where he built a church in the name of Saint John the Theologian and founded a monastery. The fame of his virtuous life reached Prince Yaroslav Vasilievich of Pskov, who showed him great respect and made donations to the monastery. Venerable Savva lived many years and departed to the Lord on August 30, 1495. His relics were found in 1554 and still provide healing to those who come to them with faith.
