Memory on February 15, in the Cathedral of the Blessed Fathers of the Far Caves of Kiev. The Venerable Pafnutiy wept and sighed throughout his life for the time of the separation of the soul from the body, realizing how the Angels and spirits of wickedness would show all his deeds, thoughts, and desires. He was blessed, as it is said: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matt. 5:4). At his death, he saw the angelic hosts, who, having received his soul, took it up to heaven. His relics rest in the Theodosian caves. His name is mentioned in the 8th song of the canon: “Remembering the blessedness of those who weep, Pafnutiy, you have always wept; now having inherited the joyful place, pray for us to dwell in the place without sorrow.”
