He received monastic tonsure in the Kiev Gnilitsy Uspensky Monastery, where he spent his days in labor and prayer. He accepted the rank of hieromonk.
Having departed to the north of Russia, he built a hut on the Vologda River and devoted himself to godly contemplation and prayer. He wished to build a church in the name of the Most Holy Trinity and to establish a monastery, which led to the creation of the Trinity Kaysarov Monastery.
During his lifetime, he enlightened the Vologda region, converting pagans to Orthodoxy and strengthening the faith. He passed away on March 4, 1178. After his death, his relics became a source of healings, and the saint promised healing to those who touched his grave.
