Martyr Boris was born on April 23, 1910, in the village of Kopyri, Yaroslavl province, in the family of priest Sergey Zavarin and his wife Alexandra. After finishing seven years of school, he entered the church as a psalmist and served in the Resurrection Church of the village of Raslovo, Vologda region. On January 16, 1938, he was arrested for 'agitation' against the godless authority and the collective farm system. On January 21, the troika sentenced him to execution. Martyr Boris Zavarin was shot on February 7, 1938, and buried in a common unmarked grave.
Priest Sergey Zavarin was arrested in 1937 and accepted a martyr's end in captivity. He was glorified by the Russian Orthodox Church in the Council of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
