Bishop
In the world, Voskresensky Vasily Konstantinovich was born on January 15, 1871, in the village of Pereslavtsevo of the Uglich district of the Yaroslavl province in a priest's family. He received his education in spiritual educational institutions, graduating from the Moscow Theological Academy in 1896. He served as an inspector and teacher in various theological seminaries, actively participating in church life and educational activities.
In 1921, he was consecrated as Bishop of Tutayev and became an assistant to Metropolitan Agafangel. In 1922, after the arrest of the metropolitan, Bishop Veniamin was sentenced for 'using religious prejudices' and sentenced to seven years of imprisonment, which was later reduced to five years.
After his release, he continued his ministry, actively preaching, but in 1927 he was arrested again for 'monarchist agitation' and sentenced to three years of exile in Kazakhstan. During his exile, he maintained contact with his flock and continued spiritual guidance.
In 1930, he was arrested again, accused of anti-Soviet agitation and sentenced to ten years in forced labor camps. He died on October 5, 1932, in a prison hospital near Krasnovodsk. He was rehabilitated on June 9, 1993, and glorified by the Hierarchical Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in August 2000.
