Saint Vavila was from Antioch, where he received a pious upbringing and education in the commandments of the Lord. Having renounced worldly life, he distributed his possessions and settled on a mountain with his disciples Agapius and Timothy. After the pagans learned of his preaching, the saint was captured and subjected to cruel tortures. Despite the suffering, the holy martyrs were strengthened in faith, awaiting eternal blessings. In the end, they were killed by the sword, and their bodies were thrown into the fire, but the flames did not touch them. The believers gathered the holy remains and gave them an honorable burial in Sicily.
