To the Holy Martyr Basil, born on December 31, 1885, in the village of Lobanova, who received his education at the Moscow Theological Seminary, and from 1904 served as a psalmist and teacher in the parish school. In 1920, he was ordained as a deacon, and in 1921 – as a priest. From the early 1930s, he served in the Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos in the village of Ivano-Teremets.
On October 5, 1937, he was arrested on charges of spreading counter-revolutionary slander. He did not admit guilt to the charges brought against him. On October 17, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. Priest Basil was shot on October 21, 1937, and buried in an unmarked grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
