Saint Salaman came from the village of Kapersana, located on the western bank of the Euphrates. Having embraced solitude, he secluded himself in a small hut on the other side of the river, going out only once a year to gather food. The local bishop, having learned about his virtuous life, came with the intention of ordaining him to the priesthood, but did not hear a single word from the saint. After the ordination, the bishop again locked him in his cell. The inhabitants of his native village, wishing to have a saint among them, once carried him away at night to their place, where he continued to keep silence. Saint Salaman, without resistance, lived in the new hut and continued his prayer: 'Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and all who serve in Your name.' He reached a high degree of spiritual perfection, having mortified the flesh within himself, and rejoicing, he departed to the heavenly abodes.
