Romulus (martyr)
Martyr
The holy martyr Romil lived during the reign of Emperor Trajan and was the first nobleman in all the royal court. During the war with the Ivers, Sarmatians, and Arabs, Trajan discovered that among his warriors there were eleven thousand Christians who refused to worship idols. He sent them to Armenia, hoping that this would make them renounce Christ.
Romil, as a military commander, reproached the king for his impiety and confessed his faith, ready to die for Christ. For this, Trajan became enraged, ordered Romil to be cruelly beaten, and condemned him to death. The holy martyr was beheaded, and the Christians sent into captivity also suffered various tortures, of which nine thousand were crucified in the desert near Mount Ararat in Armenia.
