Saint Martyr Pausilypus
Martyr
Saint martyr Pavsilip suffered under Emperor Hadrian in the province of Eutropius, governed by the prefect Lucius. He declared himself a Christian and was subjected to cruel tortures. The prefect Precious, unable to persuade him to idol worship, ordered him to be shackled and beheaded. During the execution, the saint broke his chains and attempted to escape, but, praying to the Lord, he passed away. The Christians buried his body with honors, singing psalms and sacred hymns.
