The holy martyrs Orenity, Farnakiy, Eros, Firmos, Firmin, Kiriak, and Longin were Roman soldiers and Christians. During the reign of Maximian, the Scythians attacked the Greeks, and Saint Orenity, showing bravery, defeated the Scythian leader Marof, stopping the invasion. The emperor, wishing to offer a sacrifice to the pagan gods, invited Orenity to participate, but the saint refused, declaring his faith in Christ. For this, he and his brothers were exiled to the Caucasus, where all of them died a martyr's death. The first to die was Saint Eros on June 22 in Paraemvola, then Saint Orenity was thrown into the sea with a stone around his neck and died in Rize, where his body was brought ashore by the Archangel Raphael. Saint Farnakiy died on July 3 in Cordile, Saints Firmos and Firmin on July 7 in Aspara, Saint Kiriak on July 14 in Zigania, and Saint Longin on July 28 on a ship that was washed ashore in Pitinda, where his body was buried.
