Saint Gennadius, the son of wealthy parents, distributed his possessions to the poor and came to Saint Alexander of Svir, who, despite his reluctance, accepted him. Gennadius chose a secluded place in Lake Vazhikha, where he labored until his death on January 8, around the year 1516.
Saint Nicetas, unlike Gennadius, lived according to the communal rule. He came to Saint Alexander already as a monk and spent about 7 years under his guidance. Nicetas also visited Saint Cyril of Novoezersk and, by the advice of his teacher, went to Kiev to venerate the Holy Pechersk Saints.
Upon returning, Nicetas settled in Lake Vazhikha and founded the Zadnikifor Monastery 12 versts from the Svir Monastery, taking the place of Saint Gennadius. He reposed on February 9, 1557.
