Nikandr Gorodnoezersky

Saint Nikandr of Gorodnoezer, in the early 17th century, founded a hermitage on the shores of Lake Gorodnoe, located 47 versts from the city of Borovichi. Previously, there was the Voskresensky Monastery at this site, which in 1581 was mentioned in a description as having only three elders living in ten cells. Saint Nikandr was buried in the monastery he had restored. In the church of the monastery, which was abolished in 1764, there was an altar dedicated to Saint Nikandr of Gorodnoezer.
