In any event, if it were not recorded in writing, it would be forgotten and lost to knowledge. Blessed Nestor, the writer and chronicler, enlightened our eyes by outlining what is useful for us about the beginning and arrangement of the Russian world, as well as about the Holy Pechersk Monastery and its founders, the blessed Anthony and Theodosius. He came to the monastery at the age of seventeen, demonstrating virtues and diligence in monastic life, accepting the commandments with love. After the death of the founders, he took on the holy angelic form of a monk and was elevated to the rank of deacon, increasing his virtues and striving for spiritual life.
By divine inspiration, Nestor was the first to take on the obedience of transferring the relics of Blessed Theodosius, digging them up with faith and prayer. He labored on the compilation of chronicles, pleasing the Creator. Blessed Nestor passed away around the year 1114 and was buried in the cave, where his incorrupt body works miracles. His life and labors testify to his place in the Kingdom of God, and by his prayers may we be deemed worthy to be inscribed in the books of the life of the Lamb of God.
