Saint Michael was born on October 26, 1877, in the village of Molodi, Podolsk district of Moscow province. After finishing rural school, he worked as a peasant and engaged in minting icon covers. After the death of his wife, he raised his son and daughter. Since 1919, he began serving in the church as a psalmist, then was ordained as a deacon and in 1925 – as a priest at the Church of the Resurrection of the Word. For his zealous service, he was awarded a pectoral cross.
On January 19, 1938, he was arrested on charges of counter-revolutionary activity. Priest Michael denied his guilt, asserting that he had not spoken against the Soviet government. On February 2, 1938, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. He was shot on February 17, 1938, and buried in an unknown common grave at the Butovo shooting range near Moscow.
