Saint Menign was a whitewasher from the city of Paria, in the region of Hellespont. During the persecutions of Christians under the reign of Decius, he heard a heavenly voice calling him to the feat twice. After the release of prisoners from the dungeon by the Angel of the Lord, inspired by this miracle, he decided to become a Christian, breaking the edict of the king against the persecution of believers.
Menign was captured and subjected to torture. The judge sentenced him to have his fingers cut off, from which instead of blood, milk flowed. Despite the pleas to offer a sacrifice to the idols, the saint courageously confessed Christ. He was cruelly tortured, being hung on a tree and scraped with iron, but he did not renounce his faith. In the end, he was beheaded, and from his mouth flew a pure dove to heaven.
After his death, Christians secretly took the body of the saint, and his head was found by a believer following the guidance of a bright star shining above it.
