Saints Manuel, Sabel, and Ishmael were brothers from Persia. They were raised with piety and according to the principles of Christian faith.
They served the Persian king. When they were sent as envoys to the Emperor Julian the Apostate, they refused to worship the idols. As a result, they were subjected to great tortures. When Julian learned of their faith in Christ, he had them arrested. The saints endured every hardship with courage and by praying steadfastly. They were flogged and their bodies were crucified, until they were finally led to the fire.
Through the prayers of the faithful, the bodies of the martyrs were later discovered and buried, while many miracles occured through their holy relics. Moreover, Julian soon died in battle against the Persians, which was regarded as a sign of God’s wrath.
The memory of the holy martyrs is celebrated on 17 June.
