Saint martyr Macarius (Mironov) was born in 1878 in the village of Filino, Dorogobuzh district. On December 21, 1937, he was arrested in the village of Zavidovskaya Gorka, Kessovogorsk district of the Kalinin region. On December 30 of the same year, he was sentenced to death by shooting by the troika of the NKVD for the Kalinin region, accused of 'anti-Soviet activities.' The monk Macarius accepted his martyr's end on January 5, 1938.
