Saint Martyr Constantine was born on April 9, 1872, in the village of Alexeyevskoye, Moscow province, in the family of a psalmist, Vasily Uspensky. In 1892, he graduated from the Moscow Theological Seminary and became a teacher at the Nikolai-Bogoyavlensky school. In 1895, he was ordained as a priest and appointed to the Nikolskaya Church. Father Constantine served for more than forty years, showing care for the parish and helping the local residents. In the 1930s, persecutions against the Church began, and Father Constantine faced oppression. On November 6, 1937, he and his son Boris were arrested. Father Constantine was shot on November 25, 1937, while Boris received a ten-year sentence. Father Constantine is buried in an unmarked grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow. Boris Uspensky died in the Siblag on December 15, 1942.
