Saint Julitta was a wealthy woman. After the death of her husband, she fell victim to a pagan who sought to seize her property. He invoked an edict of Diocletian, according to which those who did not worship the gods of the emperors were forbidden to participate in public affairs. Her property was confiscated, so that the saint appealed to the court in order to search for justice.
There she spoke boldly before the judge, who urged her to renounce Christ as her only King, in order to regain her status. She refused to yield to the threats and accepted the martyrdom that awaited her.
Saint Julitta lived thereafter in extreme poverty. Her sufferings came to an end in 304 or 305, during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, when she surrendered her soul to the Lord.
