Martyr Hyacinthus of Amastridea
Martyr
Martyr Hyacinthus was born and raised by pious parents, Theocletus and Theonilla. He came from Amastridea during the episcopacy of Heracleides.
At the age of three, through prayer and by invoking the name of the Lord, he raised a boy from the dead. That child came to believe in God and followed the saint in his spiritual struggles.
Having reached an old age and performed many miracles, the saint openly opposed the pagans. He was arrested for his actions and brought before the governor Castricius, who subjected him to cruel tortures. He beat him, knocked out his teeth, bound him with ropes, and dragged him along the ground, until he finally cast him into prison.
There, the saint surrendered his spirit to the Lord.
