Grigory Alexandrovich Serbarinov was born on January 25, 1880, in the village of Nizhne-Plutalovo, Zaraysk district of Ryazan province. He graduated from the Ryazan Theological Seminary in 1901 and from the Theological Academy in 1905 with the degree of Candidate of Theology. In 1909, he accepted the priesthood and began serving in the chapel of the Petropavlovsk Hospital in Saint Petersburg. From 1912 to 1922, he served in the church of 'All Who Sorrow Rejoice' on Shpalernaya Street. In 1917, he was elected a member of the Missionary Council and a candidate for membership in the Administration of the Theological Seminary. In 1918, he became a prisoner of the Trubetskoy Bastion, where he spent about 4 months. In 1922, he was arrested for organizing illegal gatherings. In 1924, he was returned from exile at the request of Patriarch Tikhon. From 1930, he was the rector of the Sestroretsk Petropavlovsky Cathedral, and later of the Nativity Church on the Peskah. In 1934, he was arrested, sentenced to 5 years in corrective labor camps, and sent to Kolyma, where he worked as a feldsher. In 1937, he was released, but soon re-arrested and shot on January 8, 1938. This was his last Christmas.
