Righteous Virgin Martyr Glaphyra of Amasea
Righteous
The pure and God-fearing virgin Glaphira served Constancia, the wife of Emperor Licinius. Upon learning of his intention to persecute Christians, she withdrew from Nicomedia to Amasia, where she lived under the protection and spiritual guidance of Bishop Basil. When Licinius learned of her departure, he ordered that she be captured and punished. His soldiers arrested her together with Bishop Basil. However, on the way back, she peacefully departed to the Lord. The death of Saint Glaphira occurred around 322 AD.
