Blessed George, born in Philadelphia, was the son of Christian parents. Having embraced Islam, he soon realized the gravity of his sin and, repenting, went to the Holy Mountain, where he confessed his sin and was anointed with holy chrism. However, his soul found no peace, and he longed for martyrdom to atone for his renunciation of Christ. Having distributed his possessions, he returned to Karachasa, where he was captured by the Turks and brought before the judge. Confessing his Christianity, he steadfastly refused to renounce his faith despite the cruel tortures in prison. After eight days of torment, the judge signed the death sentence, and George was beheaded on October 2, 1794. He accepted his martyr's end, remaining faithful to Christ until the end.
