Decius, the ruler of the island of Crete, cruelly persecuted Christians, bringing them to torture. Ten martyrs, hailing from different cities, were captured and steadfastly endured tortures and sufferings, not renouncing their faith. At the trial, they boldly declared that they would not offer sacrifices to pagan gods and would not submit to the governor's command. Despite threats and brutal tortures, the martyrs displayed courage and joy, considering suffering for Christ a spiritual triumph. After prolonged tortures, the governor pronounced the death sentence, and the martyrs, disputing among themselves about who would be the first to meet death, went to be beheaded with prayer. Their bodies were gathered by Christians and buried with honor. Later, Bishop Paul, having received permission, transferred their holy relics to Gortyna, where they were found incorrupt. By the prayers of the saints, may we also be granted heavenly blessings.
