There lived in Alexandria a noble woman who, succumbing to temptation, committed adultery. Realizing her sin, she repented and decided to leave the worldly life. To hide from her husband, she dressed in men's clothing and went to a monastery, where she took the name Theodore. In the monastery, she showed humility, patience, and diligence in prayers, performing many acts of penance.
After eight years of living in the monastery, Theodore was sent to Alexandria to fetch oil, where her husband, unaware of her whereabouts, was searching for her. Learning about her service to God, he rejoiced, but did not recognize her as she passed by. Theodore continued her feats, healing and helping others, even when she was subjected to trials and slander.
One day, she was accused of wrongdoing, and she took upon herself the sins of another as retribution for her previous crime. She endured hardships, caring for an infant left to her. After seven years of trials, her humility and repentance were rewarded, and she was once again accepted into the monastery, where she continued to serve God until her death.
Theodore left behind an example of true repentance and humility, showing that God's mercy is greater than all sins. Her life became a testament to the power of repentance and love for God.
