The holy martyrs Eustathius, Phespesius, and Anatolius were born in Nicomedia to parents Philotheus and Eusebia. Initially, they were pagans, but after meeting the presbyter Lucian, they accepted Christianity. Philotheus was baptized along with his son Anatolius, and then their house was baptized by Bishop Anthimus. After the death of their parents, the brothers began to serve God, and soon they were captured due to the denunciation of a pagan named Achilin.
During the interrogation before Emperor Maximian, they confessed their faith and refused to worship idols, for which they were subjected to severe tortures. The saints were not afraid of suffering and prayed to God, strengthening each other. After many trials, they were thrown into prison, where the Angel of the Lord appeared to them, healing them and sustaining them with manna.
When brought again before the emperor, they remained steadfast in their faith. Maximian ordered them to be thrown to the beasts, but the lions and bears did them no harm. After this, the martyrs were again imprisoned, where they received comfort from the Angel once more.
Ultimately, the saints were executed in an olive grove. Their bodies were left unburied, but the Christians Palladius and Acacius buried them with honor. The torturer, Antolios, soon after died, receiving punishment for his evil deeds. The holy martyrs rejoice in the Heavenly Kingdom.
