Saint Eupraxia of Tabenna, the mother of Saint Eupraxia, was the wife of the pious senator Antigonus, who was related to Emperor Theodosius the Great. After becoming a widow, she dedicated herself to the service of the Lord, visiting many monasteries and leaving generous donations in them. The saint came to the Tabenna Monastery, where the abbess was Saint Feodula, known for her strict rules. Deeply touched by the purity of the life of the nuns, she often visited the monastery, bringing with her her daughter, who was eight years old. The daughter, having received a special grace from God, wished to dedicate herself to the Lord. Abbess Feodula blessed her for monasticism. Saint Eupraxia continued her works of mercy, intensifying her fasting and prayer. Knowing of her impending death, she thanked the Lord for His mercy, bid farewell to the sisters of the monastery and her daughter, giving her the advice to love the Lord Jesus and respect the sisters. Three days later, she surrendered her soul to the Lord and was buried in the monastery, where her daughter continued her struggle.
