The Saints Parthenios and Eumenios were brothers. The former was born in 1829, while the latter was born in 1846. They lived in Crete and were raised by devout parents. In 1858, they were accepted as novice monks at the Monastery of Theotokos Hodegetria. They received the monastic tonsure in 1862 and 1865 respectively. In 1866 they were granted the Great Schema of monasticism. Under the guidance of their abbot, they struggled in isolation, praying in remote monastic caves. Saint Eumenios was ordained deacon in 1868 and priest in 1870. In 1874, the two brothers withdrew to the Asterousia Mountains, while in 1878 they founded the Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos in the region of Koudoumas.
Saint Parthenios reposed in 1905, while Saint Eumenios reposed in 1920. Through the grace of their holy relics, numerous miracles were performed. They were especially venerated in Crete until their official canonization by the Ecumenical Orthodox Church on January 8, 2007.
