The holy brothers Parthenius and Eumenios were born in 1829 and 1846 respectively on the island of Crete to a pious family. In 1858, they were accepted as novices in the Monastery of Odigitrias. In 1862 and 1865, they were tonsured into the rassaphore, and in 1866, into the great schema. Under the guidance of the abbot, they labored in the monastic caves. Blessed Eumenios was ordained a deacon in 1868 and a priest in 1870. In 1874, the brothers withdrew for hermit life in the Asterousian mountains, and in 1878, they founded the Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos in the Koudouma region. Blessed Parthenius departed to the Lord in 1905, and Eumenios in 1920. They acquired the gift of wonderworking and were venerated in Crete. On January 8, 2007, they were canonized by the Ecumenical Orthodox Church.
