Saint Eumenios led a virtuous life from a young age, renouncing his possessions and giving them to the poor, following the Lord's command to inherit eternal life. He also rejected concerns for the body, practicing fasting, vigil, and abstinence, which made him capable of traversing the narrow path to eternal life.
As the bishop of the Church of Gortyna, he enlightened his flock through deeds and teachings, being an example for his spiritual children. Saint Eumenios was compassionate, comforting the sorrowful, healing the sick, and casting out demons. He performed miracles, including a prayer that killed a serpent and bringing down rain during a drought.
Saint Eumenios passed away peacefully, transitioning to eternal life, and his holy body was transferred to Gortyna, where it was buried with honor.
