Evfrosinia Timofeevna Timofeeva was born in 1883 in the village of Gryaznoye, Smolensk province, coming from a peasant family. In 1903, she became a novice at the Moscow Alexeyevsky Monastery. After the monastery was closed, she remained in its building, engaged in sewing blankets.
On December 28, 1930, she was arrested and accused of “anti-Soviet agitation.” During the investigation, she was held in Butyrka prison. On January 3, 1931, the Special Meeting of the Collegium of the OGPU of the USSR sentenced her to 3 years of exile in Kazakhstan. Little is known about the life of the martyr in the following years. She passed away on November 5, 1942, presumably executed by shooting.
Novice Evfrosinia Timofeeva was canonized by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on October 6, 2006.
