Saint Dionysius was born on September 26, 1866, in the village of Sumino, Tver Province. On September 24, 1905, he entered as a novice in the Nil-Stolobensky Monastery, where he served as a candle-maker. On January 10, 1910, he was tonsured into monasticism with the name Euthymius, and later received the schema with the name Dionysius. He lived in the monastery until its closure in 1927.
Sergey Fedorovich Komarov, a wealthy peasant and benefactor of the Nil-Stolobensky monastery, invited Father Dionysius to live on his farm, where he began to receive the local population seeking blessings and advice. Father Dionysius anointed the sick with oil from the lamp.
In early 1930, a search was conducted in the house where the schemamonk lived, but he was not arrested. However, he was soon arrested and taken to prison. During interrogations, he confirmed that many people came to him for help and expressed his opinion about the Soviet government as anti-Christian.
On June 6, 1931, the OGPU Collegium sentenced him to execution. Schemamonk Dionysius was shot on June 10, 1931, and buried in an unmarked grave at the Vagankovo Cemetery in Moscow.
