Presbyter
Saint Dmitry was born on September 10, 1874, in the village of Lyakhovka, Chernihiv province. In 1882, his family moved to Omsk province, but he remained to work for the landowner Ratchenko. At the age of thirteen, he began working for landowner Trofimenko in Glukhiv, where he learned gardening. In 1893, he moved to Moscow, where he joined the church choir and became a psalmist. In 1915, he was ordained as a deacon, and in 1920, as a priest. He served in various churches, including the Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross on Vrazhka and the Church of St. Savva the Sanctified.
In 1922, he was arrested for anti-Soviet activities and sentenced to three years in labor camps. After his release, he worked as a gardener and continued to secretly perform services. In 1946, he was arrested for the third time and sentenced to five years of exile. He passed away on September 9, 1952, in exile and was buried in an unmarked grave in the vicinity of the city of Abakan.
