Righteous Anna the Prophetess, Daughter of Phanuel

The daughter of Phanuil, an 84-year-old widow from the tribe of Asir, was honored to be in the temple with St. Simeon the God-Receiver during the meeting of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who was brought for the performance of the legal rite on the 40th day after His birth. For her strict and ascetic life, fasting, and unceasing prayer, she was granted the gift of prophecy by the Lord. Saint Anna spoke of Christ to all who were waiting for redemption in Jerusalem.
