Holy Martyr Alexius was born in 1870 in the village of Golubovo, Moscow province, in the family of priest Sergey Smirnov. He graduated from the Moscow Spiritual Seminary and in 1897 was appointed as a psalmist at the Moscow Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. In 1908, he was ordained as a deacon, and on May 9, 1927, he was ordained as a priest at the Church of St. Nicholas in Plotniki. In 1931, he became the rector of this church and was elevated to the rank of protodeacon. In 1938, he was arrested and interrogated, refusing to acknowledge his guilt in counter-revolutionary activities. He was executed on March 22, 1938, and buried in an unknown common grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
Holy Martyr Dmitry was born on January 1, 1879, in the city of Taganrog, in the family of a state bank employee, Pavel Glivenko. He graduated from the Spiritual Seminary and was ordained as a priest. In the second half of the 1930s, he was the rector of the Trinity Church in the village of Karacharovo, Uhtomsky district, Moscow region. In January 1938, he was arrested and interrogated, also refusing to acknowledge his guilt. On March 15, 1938, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. He was executed on March 22, 1938, and buried in an unknown common grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
