New Martyr Alexiy Gorbachev

Martyr Alexius was born on February 5, 1892, in the village of Kurovskaya, Peremyshl District, Kaluga Province. Since 1911, he served as a psalmist in the church of the village of Muromtsevo. In the autumn of 1937, he was arrested, not admitting his guilt in counter-revolutionary activities. On November 19, 1937, the NKVD Troika sentenced him to execution by shooting. On November 23, 1937, Alexey Gorbachev was shot and buried in a common unmarked grave.
