Saint Alexandra was born on April 20, 1886, in the village of Syanovo, Serpukhov district of Moscow province, into a pious family of peasant Semyon Khvorostyannikov, who served at the church. In 1896, a women's community was established in the Medyn district, where Alexandra entered as a novice in 1915 and lived until 1918. Then she spent two years at home, and in 1925, she got a job at a textile factory. In 1937, the government issued an order to arrest all monks and nuns. Alexandra was arrested on February 21, 1938, and imprisoned in the Serpukhov prison. She confirmed her religious beliefs and expressed criticism of the Soviet government. The NKVD troika sentenced her to ten years of imprisonment in a labor camp. Saint Alexandra passed away in custody on September 30, 1943, and was buried in an unmarked grave.
