Saint Alexander was born on December 3, 1881, in the village of Medyany, Vyatka district, Vyatka province. After completing the 5th grade of the Vyatka Theological Seminary in 1903, he became a teacher at a parish school. On June 18, 1904, he was ordained as a deacon, and on October 29, 1906, as a priest. He served in various churches, was a deputy at diocesan congresses, and a dean. In 1924, he was appointed dean in Kotel'nich, where he actively opposed Renovationism, supporting Bishop Flavian. In 1927, he was arrested for anti-Soviet activities and sentenced to three years of exile in Siberia. After completing his term of exile, he returned to Vyatka and then moved to the Moscow region. On September 14, 1937, he was arrested again and sentenced. On October 10, 1937, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution, which was carried out on October 14, after which he was buried in an unmarked grave at the Butovo shooting range.
