The great miracle of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ of the Mother of God is an unspeakable event, which reveals the immeasurable mercy of the Triune God. The Lord revealed His mercy by becoming incarnate in a human body and being born as a true and perfect man.
The icon depicts the theology of the incarnation of the Lord. The Mother of God and Joseph bow in a pose of adoration and praise before the Divine Child. All of nature worships God, as seen in the animals, who also recognize in the person of Jesus their Creator.
On the right side of the icon, the shepherds receive the good news from the angel, who announces to them: "Rejoice, there is born to you this day a Savior", and at the end of the scene the angels praise: "Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men!"
On the left side are the Magi, that is, the wise stargazers, arriving from the East to meet the Messiah, guided by the star that appeared for this purpose.
