This icon of the Theotokos Athonitissa depicts the Mother of God as the protectress of the Holy Mountain. She is depicted wearing the vestments of an Abbess while standing atop Mount Athos. At her feet can be seen all of the monasteries of the Holy Mountain, while to her left and right are depicted several of the countless Saints of Athos.
The Church celebrates this icon on the 28th of August.
