Our Holy Father Zosimas from childhood aspired to serve God and went to a monastery in Tyre, where he received monastic tonsure. He became an experienced monk, was granted revelations from God, and spent his time in prayer and manual labor. One day he was commanded to leave his place and visit the monastery near the Jordan, where he met Saint Mary, who told him about her life and asked him to come to the Jordan with the Holy Gifts. Zosimas fulfilled her request and communed her. In the third year, he found her dead and, lacking the strength to bury her, asked a lion to dig a grave. The lion fulfilled his request, and Zosimas buried the saint. Returning to the monastery, he told the brethren about her and continued to strive in prayer until his death in deep old age. The monks buried him with honor.
On the same day, we commemorate the memory of the Venerable George the Silent.
