Saint Zosimus, Bishop of Syracuse
Venerable
Bishop
Bishop
Born through the fervent prayers of pious parents who had long been childless. At the age of seven, he was sent to a monastery for upbringing, where he took monastic vows and served as abbot for forty years. He was ordained as the Bishop of Syracuse by Pope Theodore.
He was distinguished by his mercy and suffered greatly, firmly guiding his flock by word and example. In the end, he fell seriously ill, but bore his suffering with magnanimity and humility. He died around the year 662 after thirteen years of shepherding his flock. Many sick people received healing by touching his tomb.
