Martyrs Zeno and his servant, Zenas, of Philadelphia
Venerable
The time and place of the lives of Saints Zinon and Zoilus are unknown. Their memory is included in the Byzantine poetic synaxaria, where it is mentioned that they departed in peace. From the poetic synaxarial texts, the memory of Zinon and Zoilus and the couplet dedicated to them were transferred to the printed Greek Menologia and to the 'Synaxarion' of St. Nicodemus of the Holy Mountain. When translating the Byzantine synaxarial texts into the Slavic language, the memory and couplet were included in the poetic Prologues, and from them were transferred to the Great Menologia and into the modern calendar of the Russian Orthodox Church.
