Bishop
Saint Zeno of Verona was a Greek from Syria who came to Italy in order to receive Christian education. The inhabitants of the city chose him as their bishop. Despite the cessation of persecutions against Christians, he enlightened pagans and fought against the Arians, remaining a steadfast confessor of Orthodoxy.
After continual struggles for the Church and for his faith in Jesus Christ, the saint surrendered his soul to the Lord in 380.For his saintly life, he was granted the gift of miracles. Saint Gregory the Great describes a miracle that occurred in 558, when during a flood, the river Adige surrounded the temple of Saint Zeno. However, the water did not enter it. Instead, it formed a wall around the building.
Saint Zeno left behind 16 lengthy and 77 brief teachings on religious and moral issues.
