Venerable Zeno of Caesarea (Cappadocia)
Venerable
Saint Zinon came from Pontus. Leaving behind wealth, he became a disciple of Saint Basil the Great and, serving at the court of Emperor Valens, after his death rejected worldly honors. He settled in a tomb near Antioch, where he lived in solitude, purifying his soul. Having no possessions except for a worn-out robe, he received food from a friend and carried water from afar. Saint Zinon spent forty years in fasting, visiting the church every Sunday to listen to the Divine Word and partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ. Later, before his death, he bequeathed to Bishop Alexander to manage his remaining possessions, which he had not yet distributed, calling God as his witness. After this, he surrendered his soul to God.
