Virgin Martyrs Zenaΐda and Philonίlla, of Tarsus in Cilicia
Martyrs
The sisters were from Tarsus of Cilicia and were relatives of the Apostle Paul. Leaving their mother and renouncing their possessions, they learned the art of healing and performed truly apostolic work. They came to the city of Demetriada, where they settled in a cave. Zinaida healed all kinds of ailments, while Philonilla, devoted to fasting and vigil, performed great miracles. The pagans, coming to them at night, stoned both of them. Thus, they peacefully rested in the Lord and were transferred to the heavenly abodes.
