Virgin Martyrs Zenaΐda and Philonίlla, of Tarsus in Cilicia
Martyrs
Saints Zinaida and Philonilla were sisters from Tarsus in Cilicia and relatives of the Apostle Paul. They left their mother behind and renounced their possessions. Having learned the art of medicine, they devoted themselves to the apostolic work. They came to the city of Demetrias, where they settled in a cave. Zinaida healed every kind of illness, while Philonilla, dedicated to fasting and vigil, performed great miracles. One night, pagans attacked them and stoned them to death.
The holy sisters reposed in peace, attaining eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven.
