The holy and righteous prince Vsevolod, named Gabriel in holy baptism, was the son of the great prince Mstislav and the grandson of Vladimir Monomakh. In 1117, he was appointed prince of Novgorod, where he proved himself to be a just ruler, building churches and caring for the poor. After the death of his father in 1132, Vsevolod was forced to leave Novgorod and went to Kiev, and then to Pskov, where he was joyfully welcomed by the inhabitants. He founded a church in honor of the Holy Trinity and governed Pskov until his death in 1138. The saint departed to the Lord after receiving communion, and his body was buried with honor. Fifty-two years later, his relics were found incorrupt and transferred to the Trinity Cathedral, where healings began for the believers coming to his relics.
