Vsevolod Ioannovich Potyominsky was born on March 30, 1870, in the town of Nikolsk, Vologda Province. He graduated from 3 classes of the Vologda Theological Seminary. From 1890, he served as a deacon in the Simonovolomsk Church in Ustyuzhsky District, and from 1900, in the Vvedenskaya Church in Nikolsky District. From 1891 to 1900, he worked as a teacher in a school in the village of Simonovolomskaya Pustyn. In 1903, he was ordained a priest by Bishop Alexy of Vologda and Totma to the Nikolsk Church in the village of Semukovo and simultaneously served as a legal instructor in the local folk school. From 1910, Father Vsevolod taught in the primary school of the village of Kyrs, had a large library, including books on agronomy, opened a school in his village where he taught using his own textbooks, and was respected by his parishioners. Father Vsevolod was convicted in 1928, 1934, and 1936, deprived of voting rights, and evicted with his family from their home. In the winter of 1937, the church in Semukovo was closed. On August 7, 1937, he was arrested and imprisoned in the Syktyvkar prison, accused of counter-revolutionary activities. The case against Father Vsevolod was conducted with gross violations, and the right to defense was not ensured. The holy martyr was executed on September 19, 1937, by the verdict of the NKVD troika of the Komi ASSR and was included in the Synaxis of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia by the decree of the Holy Synod on October 6, 2001.
