Archimandrite
Saint Vladimir was born on April 21, 1878, in the village of Malye Palatki, Gzhatsk district, Smolensk province. In 1906, he entered as a novice in the Paraklit Monastery at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. On July 15, 1909, he was tonsured into monasticism with the name Vladimir. In 1915, he was ordained as a hierodeacon, and in 1930 — as a hieromonk. From 1931, he served in the Spasskaya Church in the village of Islavskoye. In 1936, he was granted the blessing to serve the Divine Liturgy with the royal doors open until the Cherubic Hymn.
On February 21, 1938, he was arrested and accused of counter-revolutionary activities. On March 7, 1938, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. Archimandrite Vladimir was shot on March 25, 1938, and buried in an unmarked common grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
